This week we read פרשת יתרו discussing the greatest day in human history. This was the day that Hashem revealed Himself on Mount Sinai when we heard the first two of the Ten Commandments.
Aside from establishing that the Jewish religion is Divine and all of the Torah laws come from G-d, there is another message. The Torah says, ויחן ישראל תחת ההר, that Israel camped beneath the mountain. The correct word grammatically should have been in the plural, ויחנו. Instead it was written in the singular, ויחן.
This is to teach that they were כאיש אחד בלב אחד. They were united as one man and one heart. The Jewish unity was so great that they reached the level of Adam and Eve before their sin.
It was the Golden Calf that caused serious regression. However, it is important to recognize the power of Jewish unity. When we are united, no force on earth can harm us.
We need to work to achieve this unity as was seen on Sinai. Shabbat Shalom
